1 Tower Bridge
Various Scaffolds for Access, Loading and Public Protection
The Brief
The One Tower Bridge site is one of the most high-profile in Central London and is located overlooking Tower Bridge, right on the bank of the River Thames and adjacent to the offices of the Mayor of London.
48.3 were involved with the TRAD contract team right from the very beginning of the project, planning the scaffolding and working with various trades to produce a design that facilitated safe means of access for everyone – this was itself, the biggest challenge we faced.
The Work
An innovative approach to material use, tie methods, bracing
sequencing and platform formation and adaption combined to create a
really fantastic end solution for main contractor Berkeley, who, along
with their sub-contractors, were able to complete all their works from a
single scaffold: concrete finish, cladding brackets and cladding
install, balcony install, brickwork and curtain walling and glazing.
The Result
In addition to access scaffolding TRAD provided and 48.3 designed a beamed pavement gantry along the length of Tower Bridge Road with various bridges and cantilever sections, hoist run-off’s and staggered loading bays, staircases and back-propping.
